California: The country has been trying to pass a bill to govern internet poker for the greater part of the previous decade. Casino has never been part of the conversation. Observers aren’t that optimistic about the chances that authorized online poker will fare any better in California in 2019 either.
New York New York: After a few years of slow development, it seems as if New York might be ready to proceed on legalizing online poker. The nation’s constitution prohibits expansion of gaming with no public vote (poker could be considered a game of skill and therefore not gambling), which means that online casino is unlikely. The online poker bill didn’t pass in 2018, but it gets a fresh look in 2019.
Massachusetts Massachusetts: The country has spanned several bills to legalize and regulate online gaming in the past couple of years. The state Gambling Commission has become more and more vocal about the issue, as has the Lottery, suggesting that momentum may be approaching critical mass. The country has land-based properties out of Wynn (in progress) and MGM Resorts (opened 2018).
